Dr. Chijioke Okorie

Dr. Chijioke Okorie is a Consultant Solicitor in the Firm where she provides advisory services to various Clients in the IP, entertainment and technology sectors regarding law, policy, strategy, business and contracts. She is also the Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Intellectual Property, Innovation and Development at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Dr. Okorie holds a PhD in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Cape Town and an LLM in Internet Law and Policy from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.

Highly regarded in IP and technology law circles, Dr. Okorie has written and continues to write extensively in the IP field particularly in Africa. She serves as the Africa Correspondent for The IPKat rated as the most popular intellectual property law blog of all time, contributing blogs which monitor, report on and comment on various intellectual property-related issues in and around Africa. She contributes to research and policy debates on IP and internet law issues and her research has been published in several reputable journals such as Journal of
Intellectual Property Law and Practice; South African Intellectual Property Law Journal; Business Law Review etc.

Dr. Okorie is also the author of the book, Multi-sided Music platforms and the Law (published by Routledge), which critically engages with regulatory efforts to address issues that arise from the manner in which digital platforms use copyright-protected content in advertising. She handles the legal/business Affairs of a number of Nigeria’s leading and best-known entertainment industry artists, stylists, producers and labels such as Flavour, Masterkraft, Style Your Selfie, Zhymma, 2nite Music Group etc.

Prior to joining Bridgeforte Attorneys as a Consultant Solicitor, Dr. Okorie had worked at CLP Legal and Penguide Advisory as the Lead Advisor.
